Monica A. McCauley

After a brief but incredibly brave battle with cancer, Monica A. McCauley (Davis), 62, of Harwich, MA passed away at McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, MA on May 22, 2026. A loving wife, mother, Nana, sister, and friend, she was taken from us too soon, though no amount of time would have been enough for those of us who love her.

Born in Sacramento, CA to Justin and Patricia (Cleary) Davis March 24,1964, she was one of seven children. She was raised in Pittsfield, MA, where she attended local schools and was a graduate of both Pittsfield High School and Berkshire Community College. She began her career at BP&S, later worked at KB Toys, then at dental and medical offices before retiring to Cape Cod, MA, with Richard in 2021. There she was able to enjoy her long walks on the beach, meeting several like-minded friends along the way. She was a woman of many talents, quilling, baking, and loved her games of Zilch and Five Crowns, which she won startlingly often.

Predeceased by her parents, Monica is survived by the love of her life, Richard Spiller, whom she has loved for nearly three decades. She is also survived by her siblings: Gerard Davis (Kelly), Michael Davis (Rosie), Timothy Davis (Kathy), Andrew Davis (Katie), Irene Davis (Wendi), and Katherine McGovern (Kevin). Finally, she is survived by her children Emily (Keith), Joseph, Kassandra (Ricky), and Michael, as well as her favorite boys, her grandsons, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Cole.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to those who helped Monica, including all those at the McCarthy Care Center and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be sent to the McCarthy Care Center, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, or Sisters of Saint Joseph.

A wake will be held at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt. 134, South Dennis from 9-10:30 am on Friday, June 5, 2026 with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster.

She will live on in our hearts, and that will have to be enough.
