It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Philip (Bart)Tubman, 50, of Brewster and Lovell, ME., who died at home on June 24, 2019 after a long illness. Bart was passionate about life, loyal beyond measure and spoiled every dog lucky enough to cross his path. He loved his family with abandon and would drop anything to help a friend in need. Bart was an outdoorsman, gardener, and gifted mechanic. He was born, bred and raised hell in his beloved hometown of Brewster, MA.
Bart is survived by his loving wife, Susan Houlahan-Tubman, his father Philip C. Tubman, sister Sara Valentino and brother-in law Stephen Valentino, brother Peter Tubman and partner Melissa Ricciardi. He is also survived by sisters-in law Kathleen Houlahan, Nancy and husband Kevin Hagerty, Patricia and husband Frank Cassisi, Elizabeth and husband Thomas Moore, brother-in law Edward Houlahan, eight nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Diana Tubman.
Bart graduated from Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in 1986. At age 14 Bart began his career working alongside his father in the family business Phil’s Automotives. He spent the next 25 years repairing autos and building and restoring Harley Davidson motorcycles. Most recently Bart shifted his focus and worked exclusively on custom fabrication and hot rods.
Bart and Susan were blessed to spend 24 years together. During their travels they discovered Lovell ME where they built their vacation home. It proved to be a magical place for family and friends to gather. Up to the end, Bart lived proudly and passionately. He will be dearly missed.
Special thanks are extended to Dr. James Stankiewicz and the Infusion Nurses at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Carl Talmo of New England Baptist Hospital and Dr. Lisa Ferley and the Infusion Nurses at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital for the exceptional and compassionate care provided to Bart.
