

Richard (“Rick”) Burke Casey, age 79, passed away on June 18, 2026, in Harwich, Massachusetts. Born on October 1, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, Rick was the son of the late Vincent and Alice Casey and the brother of the late Paul Casey. He grew up in Needham, Massachusetts, and graduated from St. Sebastian’s School.
Rick went on to attend Brown University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He later received his MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT. He built a successful career as a systems analyst and computer programmer.
Rick married his beloved wife, Eileen Casey, on June 12, 1971, and together they shared over five decades of marriage. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Eileen; his son, Richard Casey, and daughter-in-law, Karla Cuthill; and his grandchildren, Quinn, Isla and Graeme. In 2014, Rick became a full time resident of Dennis, Massachusetts, where he enjoyed retirement with Eileen until his passing.
Rick had a deep and enduring love for sailing, finding peace and happiness on the water in and around Sesuit Harbor. Whether gathered for holidays, sharing meals, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Rick valued nothing more than being surrounded by the people he loved. Rick was an avid Boston sports fan and was widely known among family and friends as one of the biggest Boston Celtics fans in New England.
Rick lived a full rich life and will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster, Massachusetts, on July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rick’s memory to the Animal Rescue League-Brewster Shelter or a charity of one’s choice.
