

Richard Dieter, 82, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, passed away on June 29, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born April 4, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, he later moved to Medford, where he met his beloved wife of 60 years.
Richard was a brilliant man and a strong believer in the value of education. He earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University and his master's degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and placed first in Massachusetts on the CPA examination. He had a brilliant career at Author Anderson, culminating as an expert authority on bringing foreign firms to the U.S. stock market, traveling to many countries.
Richard was also an avid traveler who, with his wife, explored numerous countries and cities around the world. Among his favorite experiences were trips aboard the Queen Mary, as well as frequent visits to Las Vegas. He had a deep appreciation for fine dining, great wine, and live entertainment.
Richard was a true snowbird, spending his summers between Boston and Cape Cod and his winters in Florida. A lifelong baseball fan, he enjoyed afternoons at Fenway Park, cheering on the Chatham A's, and attending spring training games. No matter where he was, each day began with a cup of Dunkin' coffee.
Richard will be remembered for his intellect, his accomplishments, his devotion to family, his philanthropy, and his appreciation for a life well lived.
He was predeceased by his two sons, Russell Dieter and Jeffrey Dieter, and his brother, Kenneth Dieter. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Dieter (Hynes); his brother, Robert Dieter; three grandchildren, Gabrielle Deluga (Dieter), Morgan Dieter, and Nicholas Dieter; two great-grandchildren, Emily Deluga and Matthew Deluga; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, July 15, from 2-4 PM at Doane Beal and Ames in South Dennis, Massachusetts.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 16, at 11 AM at Saint Pius X Church in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. All are invited to attend and celebrate Richard’s life.
Those attending the funeral service are asked to meet at Doane Beal and Ames at 10 AM to proceed to the church together.
Following the Mass, a burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
