Vincent was born on April 25, 1931, in Wheeling, WV, to Thomas and Mary Scarnecchia. He had two siblings, Thomas Jr., and Elisabeth. Both his parents and siblings predeceased him.
Vincent is survived by Donna (nee D’Aurora), his beloved wife of 68 years, his sons, Thomas and John, and their spouses, Catherine and Denise. Vincent was the proud grandfather of Daniel, Clare and Caitlin and their partners, Faine, Mark and Leno, and great-grandfather to 7 great-granddaughters, Mairi, Aoife, Isla, Francesca, Caitriona, Sophia, and Louisa. Additionally, Vincent was a supportive brother-in-law to Carmela Partan and Nina D’Aurora and was predeceased by 7 other brothers- and sisters-in -law. After the passing of his brother-in-law, Walter Partan, with whom he was especially close, he became a second father to his niece, Kathryn, and played an active role in the lives of numerous other nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Navigator of B-29 aircraft and received an honorable discharge.
Vincent was staunchly committed to his faith and served his church in many ways, including being an usher at Sunday Mass, participating in the Men’s Club and maintaining his membership in the Knights of Columbus.
Vincent was an industrial engineer and retired from Semi-Alloys Co., in 1995 after a long and distinguished career, including roles at Boeing and Phelps Dodge. He was particularly proud of his contributions to the prototypes of the 727, 737, 747 and SST while at Boeing, and numerous patents for the production of semiconductors and fiber optic cabling.
An avid photographer, Vincent was often seen with a camera in hand looking for the next perfect photo opportunity, ranging from the bears in Alaska to the birds of Cape Cod. His enthusiasm for skiing, cycling and golf was actively shared with family and friends.
The family can be called upon on Wednesday, December 13, from 2:00-7:00pm at Doane, Beale and Ames Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 14, at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Cape, Brewster, MA.
