Vito Dellibovi

Vito Dellibovi, of Brewster, MA, passed away at home on July 29, 2026 after a long battle with cancer. He faced more than a decade of treatment with remarkable hope, determination, and the courage of a warrior, embracing every opportunity to participate in clinical trials and aggressive treatments to extend his life and the time he cherished with his family.

Born on May 14, 1949 in Passaic, NJ to Vito and Rose Dellibovi, Vito lived a full life. He graduated from Don Bosco Prep and Rutgers University (Newark) where he completed a degree in Economics with an emphasis on Accounting. While working full-time, he attended classes at night to complete his Master of Business Administration at Seton Hall University.

Vito's career centered on accounting and financial planning, beginning at Public Service Electric & Gas, where he met the love of his life, Diane. He said he fell in love with Diane at first sight—a moment that began a lifelong partnership and nearly 5 wonderful decades of marriage. Vito went on to work for the NY Power Authority, AT&T, and several NJ school boards as a School Business Administrator, retiring in 2010.

Vito and Diane were long-time residents of Long Valley, NJ, where they raised their three children. Family was at the center of everything Vito did. He and Diane made it a priority to create lasting memories, taking annual summer vacations that became cherished family traditions. Vito gave freely of his time, coaching his children in recreational sports and serving as a Boy Scout troop leader. After their children were grown, Vito and Diane embraced their new season of life as empty-nesters, traveling together and eventually moving full-time to Cape Cod in 2013. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster and a member of the Captains Golf Course, where he volunteered for the New England Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.

Throughout his life, Vito enjoyed working with his hands. He was often in the garden or the garage, growing or building something. Just as important as the finished product was sharing those experiences with family, passing along his knowledge, patience, and appreciation for a job well done. Vito valued the simple things in life, like a peaceful day on the beach with Diane, walking the fairways, and a glass of scotch. An avid lover of music, Vito revisited classic albums on the anniversaries of their release and routinely “aired out the speakers” on Friday nights while solving a Sudoku puzzle. These rituals reflected the kind of man he was—someone who found joy not in extravagance, but in time well spent with the people he loved.

Vito is survived by his beloved wife Diane of 48 years; his son Matthew (Christy) of Annandale, NJ; daughters Leanne (Nate) Brech of Columbia, MD, and Marybeth (Maxwell) Zujewski of Burke, VA; and his four cherished grandchildren, Cordelia Dellibovi, Andrew Brech, Katelyn Brech, and Brendan Zujewski. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother Angelo, of Garfield, NJ. He is also survived by his brother Jack, of Marston Mills, MA.

Vito will be remembered for his courage, dependability, and, above all, his unwavering devotion to his family. Funeral services are being planned and will be held in New Jersey.
