
Wallace B. Anderson, Jr. of South Dennis, passed away on April 12, 2015. Born in Providence, RI on June 13, 1926, the son of Wallace B. Anderson, Sr. and Maude M. (Nickerson), Wally was raised in Cranston, RI and graduated from Cranston (East) High School in June of 1944. Soon after graduating from high school, Mr. Anderson entered the U.S. Navy, served in the Pacific for almost two years before being honorably discharged in June of 1946.
After his stint in the Navy, he enrolled at the Rhode Island State College and became a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and received a Bachelor’s Degree in June of 1950. He joined Sears, Roebuck and Co. at their retail store in Greenfield, MA and became the assistant store manager. In 1957 he was promoted to Personnel Manager in Hamden, CT, and in 1960 was again promoted to the position of Hard Lines Merchandise Manager in Pittsfield, MA.
Mr. Anderson changed careers and joined the Pittsfield School Department as a vocational educator. He became the Coordinator of Cooperative Education for the City of Pittsfield and was a member of the MA Association of Vocational Administrators. In 1992 Mr. Anderson retired to South Dennis where he became an avid member of the Harwichport Golf Club for over thirty years. He was a faithful member of the Congregational Church of South Dennis where he served several terms on the Board of Trustees.
Mr. Anderson is joining his devoted late wife, Jean G. (Lindsay) Anderson and his late son Donald Anderson. He will be truly missed by his daughter Susan L. Bocash and her husband Robert, his cherished granddaughter Kathryn Jean Bocash, his dear brother Richard E. Anderson and his wife Barbara, and his loving nephews and nieces: Bill, Bob, Rich and Patti.
