

Refujio “Cuca” McDonald (née Requejo), age 90, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, in South Gate, California. Born on September 5, 1935, in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, she lived a long and vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family.
Cuca built a meaningful career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Bell Gardens Manor. Her work reflected her caring nature and warm spirit—qualities that touched the lives of many around her. Whether offering comfort to those in her care or sharing wisdom with loved ones, she was known for her compassion and strength.
She was the proud mother of two daughters and three sons. Her legacy continues through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons and her beloved husband.
Cuca had a zest for life that was evident in everything she did. She found joy in simple pleasures—playing lotería with friends and family, knitting with care and creativity, and exploring thrift stores with an eye for hidden treasures. Her sense of humor brought smiles to many faces, and her advice was always heartfelt and wise. A talented cook, she brought people together around the table with meals made from love.
Her warmth radiated through every interaction; she was fun-loving, funny, generous with affection, and always ready to lend a listening ear or share a kind word.
