

Voutila, Mona L. (nee Gelling) 86 long-time resident of St. Francis. Died of complications of pneumonia on December 6, 2010. Mona was preceded in death by her husband Marty Voutila. Loving mother of Georgene (Jim Dieball) and Jerry (Suzie). Proud grandma of Sara Johnson, Jim Voutila and Jon Voutila. Great-grandma of Alyssa Johnson. Mona was the youngest of 9 children and is survived by sister Edith "Toodie" Stenson. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mona was raised in Hibbing, MN. She moved to Venice Beach, CA during WWII and was employed as a "Rosie the Riveter" for Douglas Aircraft. She retired from Gimbels/Marshall Fields as a supervisor.
She marched nightly in the struggle for open housing in Milwaukee and volunteered in numerous activities to promote equal opportunity for all.
Mona enjoyed entertaining friends and family at the cabin in Crivitz, WI. She was proud of her Manx heritage and enjoyed many trips to the Isle of Man where her father was born.
Special thanks to the caring staffs at Franciscan Gardens in South Milwaukee and St. Luke's South Shore ICU and 4th Floor South for their compassionate care. We also appreciate Dr. Paul Robey for his care, patience, and guidance.

Memorial Service Sat. Januray 29 at 1:30 PM at Franciscan Gardens, 1000 Williams Av., South Milwaukee. Rev. Susan Burwell officiant. Private interment. Visitation Sat., at Franciscan Gardens, from 12 PM until time of Service.
