Born and raised in Kensington, Philadelphia, she lived in Juniata Park, Philadelphia before moving to Doylestown, PA for 10 years with her late husband, Felix Gills.
Mrs. Gills was known for her devotion to her husband, her incredible dancing skills, and being a hardworking woman. She displayed that in her own business, Carol's Deli and her 20 years at Rite Aid, formerly known as Eckerd and Thrift Drug. She was a member of the Wissinoming Yacht Club in Philadelphia and a member of New Life Christian Church in Newtown.
She will be remembered for her enthusiasm for playing Bingo, Dominos, and a variety of card games with her friends, scooping Ice Cream at the Sweet Shop in Pennsauken, her love for the Wildwood Boardwalk and Beaches with her family and being the Mom-Mom that grandkids everywhere dream of.
Carol is survived by her daughter Linda Hughes of Whitehaven, PA, her daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Dan Albright of Pennsauken, NJ, her 5 grandchildren: Danny Albright, Graham Hughes, Tyler Albright, Devin Hughes and Brooke Albright, her sibling, Helen Jackson and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister and her brothers, Betty Delaney, Ed Brown and George Brown (who died in WWII).
Carol’s service will be private, due to the current health emergency. A Memorial Gathering and Service will be scheduled at a later date.
