Charles Anthony Centola Sr., 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Luther Woods Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Hatboro, Pennsylvania. He had been dealing with a difficult illness for the past year. He was a long-time resident of Southampton, Pennsylvania, and then Warminster, Pennsylvania, before moving to Hatboro, Pennsylvania.
Charles “Chuck” Centola was born on April 6, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to parents Pasquale “Chick” Centola and Antoinette Carbone. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1961 and then from LaSalle College with a Bachelor’s degree in 1965. Chuck Centola went to work in various sales positions and in customer service. He had a knack for being able to talk to people, and people enjoyed talking to him. He also worked in the insurance industry before leaving to work at Raymour and Flanigan. He enjoyed his time there in his later years, but working there also enabled him the flexibility to help take care of his wife, Mary, while she was ill.
Chuck and Mary were married for 45 years before her passing in 2012. Mary, whom Chuck met when she was 16 and he was 18, was the center of Chuck’s universe. They enjoyed watching movies together, going on trips to the beach, going out to dinner with friends, and spending time with family. Chuck had a challenging time managing life without his beloved Mary, but he spent time with his children and grandchildren and a couple of his high school friends. Chuck was also very proud to be a Marine Reservist. He often told stories about his time in the Marines, and he proudly accepted a veteran’s certificate, pin, and blanket while he was at Luther Woods.
Chuck Centola was predeceased by his father, Pasquale Centola; his mother, Antoinette Centola (Carbone); his stepmother, Marie Centola (Ginder); his wife, Mary Centola (Russo), and his brother-in-law, Felix Russo.
Chuck Centola is survived by his daughter, Claudine Ursino (Rob), his son, Charles Centola, Jr. (Lauren), and his three grandchildren, Alexandra, Domenic, and Quinn.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation for Charles which will be held Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave, Southampton, PA 18966. Followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Burial at 12:45 PM at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020.
Memorial contributions can be made to any Veterans' organization, to Luther Woods Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, or to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
