Clara Finney Dungan died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Southampton Estates. She was 95 years of age. Born in Southampton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Elva Fenton Finney. She was a lifelong Southampton resident.
Mrs. Dungan was a graduate of Southampton High School class of 1935. In Philadelphia she attended Banks Business College and Clarke Conservatory of Music, where she studied piano and voice.
She was a lifelong member of the North and Southampton Reformed Church in Churchville. She served the church as organist, and as a member of the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. Clara was also active with the Fidelis Bible Class, working on Church bazaars and suppers. She supervised the making of jewelry from the church’s stained glass windows.
Clara was a member and Director of the Southampton Branch of NGA, Inc., and a member of the Violet Tennis Club, Southampton Slipper Club and Southampton Women’s Club, which she served as secretary. She was a “Rotary Ann” of the Huntingdon Valley Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.
Clara was the beloved wife of Donald A. Dungan for 51 years before his death in 1993. She was the devoted mother of Fenton D. Dungan (Karen Fesmire), Doris M. Dungan (Frank Allaire) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada and Cheryl D. Cunningham (Bradley J.) of Southampton. She was the loving grandmother of Sean V. and Thomas A. Cunningham. She was the sister of the late Grace Finney Dungan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, April 19 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the North and Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Rd., Churchville. Her service will follow at 11 AM. Her interment will take place in Churchville Cemetery.
