October 30, 1925 – May 12, 2018
Dr. Elaine S. DePree (Siggins), 92 of Warminster, passed away May 12, 2018 at Greenfield Senior Living of Lansdale. Born in Philadelphia on October 30, 1925, to the late Dr. John and Mrs. Grace Siggins, she was the youngest of three daughters.
From a young age, she embodied learning and passing new information on to others. She received a degree in pharmacy from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences in 1946 and later went on to earn a master’s degree and EdD from Temple University. Employed by Centennial School District for 26 years, Dr. DePree found her passion in challenging countless young minds and inspiring them to be their very best. She retired in 1992 as William Tennent High School Science Department Chairperson and went on to join the faculty of Manor Junior College as a Science Professor.
Elaine met the love of her life, the late Peter W. DePree and they were married in 1945, celebrating 55 wonderful years together at the time of his passing in 2000. From their blessed union were born three beautiful children by whom she is survived; Cheryl Strychowski (Edward) of Englewood, FL, Peter DePree (Patricia) of Hatboro, and Geoffrey DePree (Patricia) of Norristown, PA. She shared her strong character, zest for life and sense of willful determination with her 10 Grandchildren and 27 Great- Grandchildren, who will remember her fondly. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
She enjoyed attending services as a member of Hatboro Community Church. She loved the Lord and though we are heartbroken at her passing we find comfort that she has returned to Heaven and to her beloved husband and faithful four-legged companions. Rest well, until we meet again…"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."-Psalm 30:5 Services will be at the convenience of the family.

To the Family of Mrs. Depree,
I am a graduate of Wm. Tennant class of 1985. Yes, Mrs. Depree was my Anatomy and Physiology teacher. I can count on one hand the teachers from WTHS that impacted my life. Elaine Depree was one of them. I can still close my eyes and remember the first day in her class. She spoke is a soft calm voice and informed us that she "repeats everything three times and if we just pay attention we would do well in her class." I am grateful for her class as it was the best foundation for nursing school.
I cannot imagine the numbers of physicians and nurses your Mom introduced the wonders of the human body to.
My deepest regards for the life of your Mother.

Mrs. DePree was an awesome teacher, wonderful mentor. I had her for anatomy & physiology my senior year 1980-81. She was also the pre-healing arts club adviser and helped me focus my goal of going to medical school. That I have had my own private practice in psychiatry for the past 25 years is in part a tribute to her excellent teaching and leadership. She was one of my favorite teachers. RIP

I want to extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mrs. DePree. She was one of the best teachers I ever had, including college. I had her for Anatomy and Physiology, which I believe was the first time it was taught at William Tennent. I was also a member of Future Nurses of America. I have very fond memories of her which will live on forever in my heart. She inspired me to become the nurse I am today. May she rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of her death. I had Mrs. Depree for A and P and biology. She was also the advisor for the FNA. Her classes prepared me for the rigors of nursing school and instilled a love of science. I always remember her fondly. My condolences to the family.

You are missed Grandmom and so dearly loved. I can't thank you enough for all you ever did for me. I know the pain is gone and you are back with Grandpop and his silliness. Until I see you again ❤

Please accept my deepest sympathy in your loss. Your mom was a lovely woman and was one of my most favorite and most memorable teachers of all time. I can still vividly remember our anatomy classes and her drilling us with questions. She instilled in me a love of science, nature and the role it plays daily in our lives. Just remembering her always brings a smile to my face and I feel lucky that I got to interact with her, however briefly, after I got out of school. I'm sure many friends and family have wonderful memories to contribute over the next difficult days - be sure to take time to talk and remember all the wonderful times you shared.
