Dr. Elaine S. DePree (Siggins), 92 of Warminster, passed away May 12, 2018 at Greenfield Senior Living of Lansdale. Born in Philadelphia on October 30, 1925, to the late Dr. John and Mrs. Grace Siggins, she was the youngest of three daughters.
From a young age, she embodied learning and passing new information on to others. She received a degree in pharmacy from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Sciences in 1946 and later went on to earn a master’s degree and EdD from Temple University. Employed by Centennial School District for 26 years, Dr. DePree found her passion in challenging countless young minds and inspiring them to be their very best. She retired in 1992 as William Tennent High School Science Department Chairperson and went on to join the faculty of Manor Junior College as a Science Professor.
Elaine met the love of her life, the late Peter W. DePree and they were married in 1945, celebrating 55 wonderful years together at the time of his passing in 2000. From their blessed union were born three beautiful children by whom she is survived; Cheryl Strychowski (Edward) of Englewood, FL, Peter DePree (Patricia) of Hatboro, and Geoffrey DePree (Patricia) of Norristown, PA. She shared her strong character, zest for life and sense of willful determination with her 10 Grandchildren and 27 Great- Grandchildren, who will remember her fondly. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends.
She enjoyed attending services as a member of Hatboro Community Church. She loved the Lord and though we are heartbroken at her passing we find comfort that she has returned to Heaven and to her beloved husband and faithful four-legged companions. Rest well, until we meet again…"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning."-Psalm 30:5
Services will be at the convenience of the family.
