

Elma Griswold Spreckley (Bertram), a resident of Briarleaf Nursing Home in Doylestown, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, December 22, 2016. Her family is very grateful for the 10 years of loving care that she received there at Briarleaf. She was 85 years old.
Born in Claremont, New Hampshire, she was an only child, the daughter of Levrett M. and Lottie W. Griswold. She attended Stevens High School in Claremont and received her degree from UConn.
She is survived by her daughter Jane C. Spreckley of Newtown and her son Gary F. Spreckley (Diane) of Philadelphia. . She was the loving grandmother of Sandra, Catherine, and Gary Spreckley.
She was a vibrant, strong woman, whom loved people and was full of love and compassion for all.
Elma was a retired self-employed physical therapist, providing home care for her patients. She had also worked for Easter Seals of Pennsylvania – Bucks County Division in Levittown.
Over the years, Elma devoted a lot of her time volunteering, some of the organizations were, Meals on Wheels, the Churchville Nature Center, American Field Services (AFS). She was a PTA member with Council Rock School District, when her children were small and was a lifelong member of the Freedom Valley Girl Scout Council.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elma’s name to the Churchville Nature Center, 501 Churchville Ln, Churchville, PA 18966.
