Harland Guy Dodge, age 88, affectionately known as "Harlie" or "Buddy", passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on January 4, 2025. He was a man of many passions, unwavering dedication, and a heart full of love for those around him.
Harlie was born in Easton, Maine to Nelson and Erma (Brown) Dodge. He graduated from Presque Isle High School, then went on to graduate from the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. He married Patricia Lou (Hagerman) in 1959 and they enjoyed 64 years married until she passed in 2023. After the army he accepted a job at the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia. Several years later he moved to the Philadelphia Shipyard where he worked as an Industrial Engineer for the Department of Defense. He retired in 1994 when they found out they were expecting their first grandchild.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Harlie found his greatest joy in spending time with family. He is lovingly survived by his daughters; Julie McGuigan, her husband Matthew, Karen Fairweather, her husband Charles "Chuck" and their grandkids Damian Dodge (Conor), Shane Fairweather (fiancé Haliey), and Brooke Fairweather (Dylan). Harlie was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia (Hagerman), his son H. Mark, his parents Erma V. (Brown) and Nelson Dodge, his brother Maurice, his sister Jean Lamoreau, and several other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a wide circle of friends.
During his high school years, Harlie showcased his athleticism as a basketball player and track runner, among other sports. He embraced his creative side, spending hours oil painting and bringing vivid scenes to life on canvas. He loved to take photos of family and friends, as evidenced through the many photo albums he has created over the years!
Harlie lived a life rich in hobbies and talents. An avid golfer, he spent countless hours perfecting his swing and enjoying time outside with friends on the course. His love of music shone brightly through his skillful organ playing, filling many rooms with melodies that brought joy to others. He also found tranquility in the water and could often be found floating in his backyard pool, savoring the peace and quiet. But his favorite thing was when the pool was full of kids!
A proud Mason for over 60 years with the W.K. Bray Lodge No. 410 in Hatboro, PA, Harlie embodied the values of brotherhood, charity, and integrity.
A Celebration of Harlie’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home, 659 Street Road, Southampton, PA. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00AM-11:30AM, followed by a short Memorial Service.
