Herbert T Hermann

Herbert T. Hermann passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Quarryville, PA at the age of 101. Born in Philadelphia on September 16, 1917, he was the only child of the late Herbert P. and Elizabeth N. Hermann. Herb was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Trimble Hermann, his son David, and his good friend, Helen Doxsey.
Herb spent part of his childhood in the Philippines and the Panama Canal Zone in the 1920’s and returned to Philadelphia to graduate from Olney High School and Drexel University. At the end of World War II, he served his country in the US Army in Europe.
He worked most of his career as an engineer at the Budd Company, designing passenger trains. After leaving Budd, he worked as a consultant for the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
Herb served his community on the local school board in Rockledge, PA, in the local VFW post and on many church boards at the North & Southampton Reformed Church.
His hobbies included travel, model railroading, woodworking and bird carving. Many award-winning examples of his furniture and bird carvings have remained in his home until his passing.
Herb will be deeply missed by his two sons, Richard and Jeffrey, his three daughters-in-law: Jeanne, Donna and Patricia, his seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by the children and grandchildren of his friend, Helen, who were like a second family to him.
A Memorial Service will be held at the North & Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966 at 11:00 am on Saturday November 3, 2018.

- Mr. Hermann also leaves his seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory. He will also be missed by his friend Helen's children and grand children who were like a second family to him.
