Jane was born in Philadelphia, PA, to parents George and Jenny Everett. She graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School. She went on to establish a career as an Executive Secretary, working for Unisys and Kennametal. She supported executives and sales staff as one of the few working mothers in her time, progressing from Gregg shorthand to typewriters and finally computer support.
Jane served St. John of the Cross Church, Roslyn, PA as a long-time volunteer. She especially loved volunteering for the bingo games at church, Girl Scouts, assisting her husband with Cub Scouts and other parish activities. An accomplished seamstress, she was often found at her sewing machine making doll clothes, family clothing, home furnishings, and doing alterations for family and friends. At Centennial Station, Warminster, PA, she enjoyed decorating her condo building for all the holidays. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Her love of travel, including ocean cruises, allowed her to spend time in Ocean City, Marmora and Sea Isle City, in New Jersey. Jane also loved her frequent visits to Florida, South Carolina and the nation’s National Park System. Her fierce independent spirit resulted in a recertification of her driver’s license at age 91, and the freedom that driving provided.
Jane will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She developed lifelong friendships throughout her career, and the coworkers she met along the way became family, leaving her with cherished relationships. She loved to watch golf on TV as well as the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. She never turned down an invitation, especially if beach time or dancing was involved.
