John was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to his parents, John A. Mahoney and Maryann Michlen Mahoney. He attended Norristown High School and spent much of his life in Montgomery County, including many meaningful years in Green Lane, where he raised his daughters.
John built his life through hard work and adaptability, holding a variety of jobs over the years. He worked as a roofer in his younger days, later as a cook and furniture salesman, and most recently as an automotive detailer at Tri County Chrysler. John had a strong work ethic and was always willing to do whatever was needed.
More than anything, John cherished time spent with his daughters, Shaelin and Chelsea. Whether it was fishing together, celebrating birthdays over dinner, or simply being in each other’s company, those moments meant everything to him. He loved holidays and spending time with family and friends.
John was known for his outgoing personality, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and the laughter he brought into every room. Those lucky enough to call him a friend knew he was loyal and generous. He had the biggest heart and a goofy personality that could make anyone laugh. He was a hero to his two loving daughters, the best fishing buddy, and one of the funniest people you could ever meet. No matter what, he always knew how to make you smile.
John lived simply but loved deeply. He always made sure the people in his life knew how much they meant to him, and he had a way of making everyone feel special. When the world felt heavy, John reminded those around him to look for the good in life and to never forget to laugh.
John was preceded in death by his stepmother Kathleen C. Mahoney; his best friend Brian Shalinsky; his Grandparents; his uncles Joseph and George.
John’s legacy will live on through his daughters, Shaelin E. Mahoney and Chelsea K. Mahoney; his father, John A. Mahoney; his mother, Maryann Michlen Mahoney; his sisters, Michele Mahoney (Douglas Koehn) and Jacqueline F. Ward (Kevin); his nephew, Ryan; his niece, Nicole; his uncles, Jerome and James; his aunt, Joanne; and many cousins and friends.
John was so deeply loved, and he will be missed more than words could ever express. We hope heaven is everything he ever dreamed of and that he is free from any pain he carried here. We will miss you and love you forever.
A private ceremony will be held by John’s family.
