Our sincere condolences to Aunty Bhangie, Chris, Dereck, Camille, Donald, Seleina and the entire Deonarain Family. What can I say about Uncle Lotan that really sums up his personality, he was a real stand up guy. He was funny, honest and strong minded. He was who he was and that's what you got. He was a master fisherman. My sister Susan and I would spend some summer weeks at their home in Trasby and he would gather up the troop early morning and we would head out fishing. My aunt would prepare a delicious dinner with our catch of the day.
He was always kind to us. It's sad that he is gone but his memories we will treasure. RIP Uncle Lotan.

To Our Dearest Grandpa Mamoo,

Thank you for the memories, thank you for all the laughs and thank you for being who you were to me, my husband and our whole family!

We always looked forward to family events especially knowing you were coming to attend. We knew having you there would mean non-stop laughs, words of wisdom from your life experiences and being able to see you interact with my granny (the late Jasmat Budhu) and see the loving bond you two had. You have given us so many memories that we will forever cherish in our hearts and for that we will be forever grateful to you.

We hope you rest in Eternal Paradise Grandpa Mamoo, we love you and will miss you forever!

Love Always,
Cindy and Mark (your smoking buddy) Mohamed

Firstly I'd like to offer my deepest condolences to Mamie, Chris, Dereck, Camille, Donald, and Seleina.

Mamoo was very special to my Mum and her sisters, nieces, and nephews. As her youngest and only brother he was showered with love. Mamoo was fun to be around, always smiling, cracking jokes and teasing his sisters. He will be remembered for his kindness and quick wit. It is indeed very sad to see him go, we will treasure his memory forever.

Rest in peace Mamoo, Love from your sister Ellen, nephew Krisho, nieces Shanta and Anita.

Mike, Pipe, Dad, Pop, Lotan - any one of these would’ve been considered appropriate for Mr. Deonarain, but “Papi” is what I called him. When first walking into the room, he would always enjoy when I called him “Papi” as it would give him the opportunity to remind me on how fluent he was in spanish, responding with “español si, si lo entiendo muy bien”.

My name is Jesse, and I’m married to Lotan’s youngest daughter Seleina, and as you can guess, Lotan was my father-in-law. Seleina and I have been married for a little over 18 years, so I can’t begin to navigate the countless memories I’ve had with Pops over the times. But what I will say, from the bottom of my heart, is that our dad was ingenious, phenomenal and complex in every way. He somehow was the most happiest, patient, kind, selfless, attentive and observant person in any room he stood in, while also being the complete opposite with a snap of the finger. One could call him the Houdini of emotions.

My father-in-law took charge everywhere he went and demanded attention and respect at all times. Rightfully so, as everyone was always prepared and more than willing to provide said attention and respect with zero hesitation. We all loved his company, and we all wish he were still here with us to brighten up our day with the myriad of stories that no matter how many times he told them, he always maintained your attention, with hopes to gain a tidbit of information you hadn’t heard previously. He was a true master storyteller.

Einstein once said “Only one who devotes himself to a cause with his whole strength and soul can be a true master. For this reason mastery demands all of a person.”. Our dad’s greatest cause was solely - his children, and he will be eternally missed.

The name Grandpa Mamo came from my daughter Angelina. When she first met Grandpa I called him Grandpa and my Mom called him Mamo, a bit confused on what to call him she put the two together and he was known as Grandpa Mamo from that day.
Grandpa Lotan you were alway a joy to have around. We looked forward to your visit and when you left we couldn't wait to see you again. You had a strong personality, stand your ground and alway had that heavy laugh that was genuine and from the heart. We will miss you. Send our love and deepest condolences to your entire family. Love Always the Khan's (Sean, Roshini, Angelina & Rashaad)
