Nina R. Hoehn (nee Hibner) passed peacefully in the presence of our Lord on December 2, 2020 at the age of 90. Born in York, Pennsylvania on November 22, 1930 to Ruth F. Hibner and Charles A. Hibner, she resided in Warminster, Pennsylvania with her predeceased husband Harry V. Hoehn whom she married on June 26, 1954.
Nina earned her undergraduate degree at York College before moving to Philadelphia where she earned her BSN degree at Jefferson University. In addition to showing great persistence and resolve in becoming a career woman at a time when it was a real rarity, Nina proved to be an exceptional nurse in so far as she was a naturally gifted friend and listener to those she cared for.
Nina’s love and care for others was so apparent in all aspects of her life but especially in her time as a nurse. In the course of her career as a Registered Nurse, she directed the nurses of Rolling Hill Hospital before working in psychiatric nursing at Byberry Mental Hospital and geriatric nursing at the Orange Home. It was before this, however, in serving as a public health nurse, that she met the love of her life, Harry, while caring for his grandmother.
Despite her many commitments, Nina’s love for her husband and family preceded all else. Nina loved being with nature. She and Harry enjoyed hiking, fishing, and visiting the beach together and with their family. At home, Nina would spend countless hours tending to her gardens and observing the different birds that would visit her there. She enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, oftentimes spending hours with them simply chatting and playing games like Pinochle, Yahtzee, Scrabble, and Sequence. Her family will always remember her by the lovely memories she imparted on them as well as the countless family traditions she passed down to the two generations superseding her to include baking Christmas cookies, decorating pysanky eggs and making the very same peanut butter eggs she and her parents would make and sell from their kitchen window.
Always believing in the importance of service to others, Nina was also a loyal and active member of the North and Southampton Reformed Church where she would teach Sunday School, help prepare and package meals for Aids for Friends, and meet with her friends in Ruth Circle. Nina was also a member of the Vereinigung Erzgebirge where she enjoyed friendships she made, swimming and the many activities of the club.
She will be remembered as a strong, fun loving and caring woman.
She is survived by her children Denise Langan (Patrick (D)) of Warminster, Pennsylvania; Janet Conrad (Daniel) of Port Saint Lucie, Florida,; Harry Hoehn, Jr. of Menton, France and Brett Hoehn of Rockvale, Tennessee.
Nina is also survived by her granddaughters Heather Conrad, Kimberly Inglis (Josh), Ruth-Anne Pai (Norman) and Noel Langan; and her brother Gary Hibner. She was predeceased by her brothers Rodney Hibner, Richard Hibner, and Dennis Hibner. She is also survived by her loving sisters in law and a brother in law, many loving nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, and many close and caring friends.
A memorial service will be determined at a later date.
Rest in peace, faithful and loving servant of God.
