Raymond Earl Sonnie
March 11, 1945 – March 4, 2018
Raymond E. Sonnie died on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his residence. He was seventy-two years of age. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Earl R. Sonnie of Feasterville, PA and the late Margaret O‘Neill Sonnie. Raymond was a Fairless Hills, PA resident for the past five years. He was raised in Feasterville and had previously lived in Wallingford, CT.
Mr. Sonnie a retired electronic technician. He had been a longtime employee of General Dynamics. Raymond was a graduate of the University of New Haven, receiving degrees in Criminal Justice and philosophy. He graduated from the university Summa Cum Laude.
Raymond was a communicant of the Saint Frances Cabrini Parish in Fairless Hills. He was an Air Force veteran. He enjoyed gardening, classical music and playing piano. Raymond was an excellent chess player and an avid student of history.
Ray was the beloved husband of Karen Lynn Peters Sonnie for thirty-seven years before her death in 2005. He was the devoted father of Valerie Sonnie of Philadelphia and the late Dana Sonnie. He was the loving brother of Eileen Sonnie of Wyckoff NJ, Paul Sonnie of Bensalem, Donna Brennan of Annapolis MD, Linda Carr of Easton MD, Margaret Wood of Quakertown and the late Stephen, Mark and Brian Sonnie.
Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Saint Frances Cabrini Church, 325 S Oxford Valley Rd, Fairless Hills, PA 19030. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 AM. His interment will be in the In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford, CT on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 1:30 PM.
