On Friday, June 14th, 2024, Richard Allen Evanson Sr., loving husband, father, Poppy, and great grandfather passed away at the age of 68. Richards greatest accomplishments would include his marriage of 50 years to Phyllis, his beautiful wife, and watching his children and their families flourish and grow.
Richard led by example and taught his children the greatest lesson of all; how to love their mother. His loss leaves an immense hole in the hearts of his family, which is the price we pay for having a great husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Richard was born to the late Gertrude Ida Evanson and George Martin Evanson on November 23rd, 1955, and is survived by his 5 remaining siblings; Deborah Nolan, James Evanson, Carol Erney, Susan Brauer, and Brenda Doughty. He is preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor Gain, and brother, Kenneth Evanson. Richard leaves behind his beloved wife Phyllis Evanson (Doneker), and his two children; Richard Allen Evanson Jr. and his wife Alyson Evanson, and Dawn Gehret and her husband Matthew Gehret. Richard is survived by his 6 beautiful grandchildren; Cassidy, Collin, Ricky, Hannah, Hayley, and Bruce, and one great-grandchild, Zachary.
Richard worked for 45 years at Standard Press Steel in the Tool room, and in his “retirement” worked at Acts Retirement Communities in Security and Maintenance. Rich was the ultimate handyman and enjoyed tinkering around the house.
