Born in Philadelphia on October 6th, 1936, Ronald was the son of the late Mary and Howard Hoover. Ronald was a man of profound dedication in all areas of his life. In October of 1956, Ronald was lucky enough to marry his high school sweetheart, Marjorie Splet. Together, they shared a beautiful life and celebrated 65 years of marriage before her passing.
Ronald proudly served his country as a Navy Reservist for four years. Professionally, he spent his career at O.P. Schumann & Son’s, where he specialized in custom machine building and the manufacturing of custom parts and assemblies, retiring at the age of 65.
Upon retirement, Ronald embraced the simple pleasures of life. He spent his days doting on his beloved wife, playing golf, dancing, vacationing and meticulously caring for his home. Known to all as a caring, loving and generous man, he was always there for anyone who needed him.
Ronald is survived by his loving daughters, Linda Edelman (Rick) and Debra O’Neill (Thomas “Tommy”); his cherished grandsons, Michael O’Neill (Katie) and Bryant O’Neill (Becky); and his five adored great-grandchildren, Lily Montross, Charlotte, Rowan and Olivia Montross-O’Neill, and Henry O’Neill.
Ronald is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marjorie Hoover, in 2020. His family takes great comfort in knowing that Ronald and Marg have been reunited in eternal peace. “So long!”.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 26th, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W. Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ronald and Marjorie’s memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
