Ruth I. Johnston
April 14, 1928 – June 4, 2018
Ruth I. Johnston (nee Yuengling) age 90 was called home on June 4, 2018. Born in Philadelphia to her proud parents Edward Charles Yuengling and Ruth (nee Lynch), Ruth went to Olney High School and prior to that met the love of her life sitting on a step when he walked up to say hello. At the age of 14 they went on a date and at first she really did not like him. However, that dramatically changed and after a few years they were married. They enjoyed a happy union for more than 69 years. Ruth loved the beach, especially the family trips to the Jersey shore and Royal Palm Beach, Florida. She was gifted in so many things, such as, swimming, sewing, cooking, hair styling and just about anything she would do. The most important thing in Ruth’s life was her husband and family. “Family” is what made Ruth happy, knowing she had such a wonderful and loving life with her loved ones. Ruth is survived by her devoted husband William F. Johnston. Loving mother of Kathleen McAnelly, Ruth Kurtz (Earl) and William E. Johnston (Judith). Grandmother of Kimberly Alumbaugh, Megan Hoose, Ryan McAnelly, Jillian Johnston, Eric McAnelly, Gregory Johnston and Kelsy McAnelly. Great grandmother of Rylan, Jackson, Caelyn, Grace, Wyatt and the newest - Vivian. The family is having a private memorial service and in the near future a Celebration of Life for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ruth Johnston to the Alzheimer Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.

My deepest sympathy to Ruthie and family on your loss. Although I never met Ruth, her story is one immersed in love and family. It doesn’t get any better than that. May she Rest In Peace.
