Susan A Canale

Susan A. Canale passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was 65 years of age. Born in Philadelphia, She was the daughter of the late John and Hazel Stanton Shafer. She was a longtime resident of Huntingdon Valley since 1971 and of Ocean City NJ since 1987. She had previously lived in Philadelphia.

Mrs. Canale was a realtor and real estate appraiser. She was the owner of Susan Canale Real Estate and Abstract Appraisal in Southampton, PA which had evolved into a partnership and became Century 21 Montague-Canale. Susan was a member of the Bucks County Association of Realtors.

Susan was an active member of the Bryn Athyn Fire Company. She was a Communicant of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Southampton and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Canale was active in community service in Ocean City, NJ. She served as the Chairperson of the Annual Ocean City Baby Parade and the Night in Venice Boat Parade for many years along with participating in numerous other events. She dedicated thousands of hours of her time to a city she loved and was awarded a “Piece of the Boardwalk” several times.

Susan was the beloved wife of Joseph A. Canale, Sr. for forty-two years. She was the devoted mother of Joanne Canale-Simone of Philadelphia, Joseph A. Canale, Jr. (Daria) of Huntingdon Valley, and the late Shawn Canale. She was the loving grandmother of John E. Simone, Jr., Kiera Blessing, Alexandra Canale, and Joseph A. Canale, III. She is also survived by her brother William Shafer.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from Ten o’clock in the morning on the 27th day of December, 2012 at the Wm. Rowen Grant Funeral Home, Street Road & 2nd Street Pike, Southampton, PA 18966. Her memorial service will follow at eleven o’clock.
