Anita Elsa Black

Anita was born, February 16, 1955, in Heidelberg, Germany to the late William Ira and Helene Grossmueller Hancock. She worked for Island Healing Chiropractic after retirement where she made many friends throughout the community. Anita was passionate at thrifting and was well known at all the local thrift stores where she hunted to find their fine china and collectibles. After researching their values, she turned them into a successful Ebay store. She also took several writing classes and enjoyed writing stories as a hobby. Anita loved her 828 church family and the many special friendships she made there, as well as her Bible study group she spent time with.

She married Ralph Willard Black, on February 22, 1974, in Naples, FL. They moved to Knightdale, NC in 1978 with their 2 children where they made 38 years of memories and friendships. In 2016, they retired and moved into their dream home in Oak Island, NC, where she pursued her many passions beside her loving husband of 52 years.

Along with her husband she is survived by her daughters, Heather Black Erikson and Laura Black Horton both of Knightdale, NC; sister, Susan Siefert (Ray) of Oviedo, FL; brother, Michael Hancock (Judy) of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Kacie Horton, Magnus Erikson and Dane Erikson and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation Services will be held at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service and Crematory in Knightdale, NC on October 2, 2026, from 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 828 Church in Southport, NC on October 7, 2026, at 11 am.
