Ann was born in Hartford, CT on August 12, 1953 to Robert and Mary Morier. Ann attended Glastonbury schools and went on to get her bachelors degree at Syracuse University in art and certification as teacher from the University of New Haven . She was the oldest of six children in the Morier family. Ann was a retired art teacher having worked in Hartford CT at Moylan Elementary School retiring in 2012. Ann taught K - 8 primarily and always encouraged her students to read. She often stayed after hours to help her students do just that. Ann was the Moylan teacher of the year in 2007. A gifted artist herself, she enjoyed seascapes and still life painting and drawing. An avid beachcomber, she had lived on the Connecticut shoreline in Westbrook. She and her husband, James Gavin moved to Bolivia NC to enjoy the beach at Oak Island.
Ann is survived by her husband, James Gavin; five siblings, James Morier of Rockville CT, Robin Fagan of Camden, ME, Peter Morier of West Hartford, CT, Jennifer Morier of Brattleboro, VT, and David Morier of Austin, TX; as well as seven nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ann's caregiver, April Jennings.
A celebration of her life will be held in Connecticut in May and she will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
