Ann Roberson

Ann Galante Roberson, 78, of Southport, NC departed for one final adventure on August 14, 2026. She was born July 13, 1948 and raised in Allentown, PA by her parents, Guido and Reta Galante, first in a multi-generational Italian home surrounded by love and tradition and later on a street where half the homes were occupied by family. She had numerous aunts, uncles and cousins as well as her treasured grandparents to shape her life of great dedication to family and those she loved.

She attended William Allen High School and during her senior year went on a blind date with Lehigh University sophomore Dale Roberson, sparking a romance that spanned more than 60 wonderful years. They were married in Allentown on August 3rd, 1968, following her sophomore year at Kutztown University and Dale’s graduation from Lehigh and celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary one week before her passing.

Ann and Dale moved to his native Maryland where they built a loving life, home and family together. Daughters Lisa and Christina soon arrived, and the family moved to Olney, Maryland where Ann and Dale stayed for 40 beautiful years. Ann started many traditions in their home and created a magical childhood for her girls and, later, her grandsons Kyle and Devin. Her home was always filled with great music (the Beatles and Elvis were favorites), incredible food (there were no shortage of family favorites), shells (she was an avid fan of shelling) and friends – usually Lisa’s and Chrisy’s because they all loved Ann and she made them feel so welcome.

Ann and Dale established a 2nd home in Ocean City, Maryland where following her retirement as a long-time banking specialist she began her career as a self-proclaimed certified beach bum. Between trips to the beach and time with her family, she also embarked on many adventures to locales near and far. Ann lived and breathed the motto, Carpe Diem. She and Dale traveled extensively making treasured memories on countless cruises, trips to Italy and other European destinations and frequent visits to Maui, Hawaii including a family trip to celebrate her and Dale’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Her love of beaches and adventure eventually led her and Dale to relocate to the St. James community in Southport, North Carolina in 2015. She loved her charming new hometown and made some wonderfully special friends, particularly in her book club and bible study. Her daughters loved hearing that many weeknights Ann and Dale were at concerts or dinners with friends, always on the go and living aloha. Ann truly knew how to live and was an inspiration to those who loved her.

Treasured grandsons Kyle Georg and Devin Bresnan. Beloved fur-baby Jack. Brother Paul Galante (Ann), sister-in-law Gina Roberson (Mona), Aunt Diane Michael, special nephews and numerous cousins.

A celebration of Ann’s beautiful and extraordinary life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House of Brunswick – Lower Cape Fear Life Care or the Alzheimer’s Association.
