Betty Walters Plagens

Betty was born to Edythe Kraft and William C. Walters on September 3, 1924 in Peru, Illinois. She was educated at L-P High School, in LaSalle-Peru, IL and Junior College. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her career was homemaker.She married Wayne C. Plagens on June 29, 1946 at Peru Congregational Church, Peru, Illinois.

Betty was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius, NC, where her cremated remains will be buried in the church cemetery alongside her loving husband of 47 years, Wayne Plagens.

Betty has 3 children, Barbara Hurlbert of Jacksonville, FL, Barry Plagens of LaGrange, GA and Beth Bost of Southport, NC; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Betty loved Southport, where she spent the last 7 years of her life, in the independent living hall and nursing halls at Southport Nursing Center. She loved all the staff, other residents and volunteers there so much and considered them a part of her family. She also loved the beach, going out to eat at the various great restaurants in Southport and downtown as well.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Southport Nursing Center in Southport.

A private family service will be held at a later date in Cornelius, NC.
