Carolyn was born in Plainfield, NJ on December 19, 1943, a daughter of the late Carl Frederick Blattner and Katherine Moritz Blattner. She grew up in Bound Brook, NJ where she met her husband, George. They lived and raised their children in New Jersey until moving to St. James, Southport, NC in 2012.
Over the years Carolyn had many roles, including college student, childcare worker, gardener, bowler, artist, horseback rider, party planner, business owner, librarian, loving wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.
Her greatest role in life, however, was being a loving and caring mother. She had five children of her own, but was often referred to as Mom or Momma Flynn by many of her children’s friends. With her love of plants, birds and nature, she taught her children respect and compassion for others and all living things.
She is survived by her husband of almost 55 years, George Carl Flynn, Southport, NC; sons, Scott Flynn, Horseheads, NY, Gregg Flynn, Long Valley, NJ, Todd Flynn, Montclair, NJ; daughters, Kristen Powers, Richmond, VA, Kelly Flynn, Central, SC; sisters, Joan Shaw, Atkinson, NH, Ann Huggler, Berwyn, PA; grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, Gabby, Cooper, Graeme, Shea, Johanna, Liam, Kaelan, Cyrus, and Devon; great grandchild, Bentley;
