Charlie was born July 29, 1954 to the late Charles Everette Gladden, Sr. and Inez Odel Gladden. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served in Vietnam aboard the USS Monticello. He had worked as a mechanical engineer at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center until his retirement in 1992. Since moving to Oak Island, Charlie made many friends, he loved everyone. He will be remembered as a selfless person who embraced everyone; he never met a stranger. Charlie enjoyed singing Karaoke at the Lazy Turtle, Oasis, and many other places in the area.
Survivors include his son Charles Gladden and wife Shannon; two step-daughters, Dianna Miano, and Ronnie Miano; two grandchildren, Taylor Gladden, and Noah Gladden; two sisters Pam Roux, and Susan Gladden McGarry; he is also survived by his former wife and love, Toni Borden.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 3:00pm in the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
