

Mr. Angelow was born September 13, 1946, son of the late Chris Angelow and Elizabeth Culbertson Angelow. He was raised in Greensboro by his grandparents, Bert and Nina Huffines.
After high school graduation, Chris joined the United States Army and served in Japan, then volunteered for service in Vietnam. Chris then worked for National Cash Register for many years before retiring and moving to Oak Island.
Once retired, he opened a restaurant/ice cream shop called The Greensboro Connection and worked for almost 20 years for H&R Block in Wilmington.
An adventurous spirit, Chris had many passions which included archery, SCUBA diving, reading, fishing, hunting, carpentry, welding and cooking. His favorite hobby of all was traveling. His travels were anything but ordinary. He chose to make the most of every place, from riding camels with Susan in Egypt to picking olives in Greece.
His memory will be cherished by his beloved wife Susan Angelow of Oak Island; children Nathan C. Phillips and wife Amber of Oak Island, Bonnie P. Gardiner and husband Cliff of Oak Island and Jeremy D. Phillips and wife Michelle of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Marjorie P. Harvell and husband Alex, Ian Pare’, Maxwell Gardiner, Owen Phillips and Cooper Phillips.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 2, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport.
