Connie Thayer George

Connie Thayer George, age 82, of Boiling Springs Lakes, NC passed peacefully on July 1st, 2026. She was born on June 10th, 1944 in Wilson, NC to her parents Alonzo William Thayer and Margie Peterson Thayer.

Connie was a loving person and a great mother of two children from her first marriage, a daughter, Amy Cathey Cox and husband H.D. Cox of Boiling Springs Lakes, and a son Zachary Duane Cathey of Boiling Spring Lakes who passed on May 3, 1992. Connie has one sibling, a brother, Edward Thayer and wife Gloria Thayer of Southport, NC.

Surviving From her second marriage to her late husband William Roy George, are three stepdaughters, Wendy Mayo and husband Kenny Mayo of Willow Springs NC, Cindy Nixon and husband Gerald Nixon of St. Augustine FL, and Mendy Bianco of Arlington, VA; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Connie will be most remembered by her unwavering faith, her generosity and kindness. Her quick wit and humor. Her passion for cooking, writing poetry, painting pictures and a little sewing.

She was a member of the Southport Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Connie will be missed very much by her family, Congregation and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on August 8, 2026 at the Southport Kingdom Hall located at 960 Southport Supply Rd., Bolivia NC 28422. www.jw.org

Her daughter Amy Cox will receive family and friends in the coming days at Brunswick Cove Living Center, 1478 River Rd SE, Room 404, Winnabow, NC 28479. Visitation hours will be between 11am-12pm or 3pm-4pm. In lieu of flowers cards can be sent to this address as well.
