He was born November 6, 1939 in Lorain, Ohio, the oldest of four children of Ruth and Isadore Sepsenwol.
David earned a BS degree in education from Antioch College and a Masters in Adult Education from Washington University and taught his first years at The Walden School in NYC. He was a gifted and inspiring teacher of young children. While in NY, he became “sidetracked” into business, where he developed a successful career, first in human resources, then in large-scale management reorganization, working for several large corporations. He ultimately became a partner in Vector Strategic Management in NYC, a management consulting firm. His career took him and his family to California, Florida, London, Philadelphia, Toronto and Manhattan, the last where he lived most of his life.
After retirement, he and his wife, Susan, moved to Southport NC. He was the loving father of two sons, Jonathan and Benjamin and step-daughter, Susan Light. He loved sailing and the ocean. David was an avid collector and disseminator of books and music and an extraordinary chef. Their many friends and family will remember the elegant, sumptuous meals and seders he created and catered. He was often urged to open his own restaurant, but his response was always the same: “I only cook for the people that I love.”
He is survived by his wife, Susan Maynard, his sons Jonathan (Karen; Miami Beach) and Benjamin (Shanghai), his step-daughter Susan Light (NYC), his sister Leah (Terri; Missouri), his brothers Noah (DC) and Sol (Wisconsin), and his two granddaughters, Molly and Zoe and step-granddaughter, Ella.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018 in the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel.
