From there, he worked for Lange USA, Inc. in Oakland, New Jersey. In 1988, he began working for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation where he stayed for 28 years, as a Distribution Center Manager, and later as a Historic Character Interpreter. He became a naturalized citizen of the US in 2002 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Dennis' favorite job was working in character interpreter department, where he played many characters over the years. His love was portraying Alexander Purdie, printer of the Virginia Gazette, which he researched and brought to life. He enjoyed working with his co-workers, the nation builders, and the tradesman in the print shop, who helped him make his character come alive. Being able to ride on his American Cream horse cavalier was a bonus. Dennis enjoyed the beach, volunteering for the Caswell Beach Turtle Watch, and educating visitors about the sea turtles.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Watson.
A celebration of his life will be held in Williamsburg at a later date.
