

Mr. Dixon was born January 7, 1945 in Whiteville, NC, son of the late Archie and Kayte Dixon.
Donald served a time in the Auxiliary Police, as an EMT and in the Rescue Squad for the city of Southport. He also worked at CP&L/Progress Energy as a Safety Supervisor, Loss Prevention Unit Supervisor and Security Superintendent for 45 years and multiple additional contractual positions in safety working through several outages until he retired. Donald also had a love for hunting, golfing, and gardening. He was a farmer at heart and loved his best pal, Kassie.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Irene Dixon; four children, Donald B. Dixon, Jr. and wife Ellie, Daniel L. Dixon and wife Michele, Paul E. Downs and wife Tamara, and Holly Christman and husband Ward; nine grandchildren, Luke Dixon, Garrett Dixon, Carmen Dixon, Kaitlin Jones, Lanece Dyer, Kason Downs, Brenna Christman, Gillian Christman, and Karlee Downs; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Archie Dixon and wife Anne, and a sister, Judy Wehler and husband Will.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family.
