
Donald Ellis “Don” Mundy, 85 of St. James passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. Don was born October 14, 1929 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey the son of Raymond and Lillian Mundy. He attended Rutgers University and had a career in land development in New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia. Don served in the US Navy during the Korean War on the destroyer USS Rich.
He is survived by his wife Judy. They celebrated 58 years of marriage this past spring. He also leaves a son Bill and wife Felicia of Chapel Hill and their daughter Deegan; Don is survived by a daughter Jill Rodak and husband Andy of Wake Forest and their children Lillian and Jack. Also surviving is his twin sister Doris.
Don enjoyed golf, fishing and boating. He was known as Captain Don at his fun job at Carolina National Golf Course. He was a member of the American Legion Post 543 and had been a member of the American Legion for 40 years.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 20th at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport where Don and Judy are members.
