Mrs. Wagner was born in Creswick, Victoria Australia on December 18, 1927 to the late Frank and Catherine Ridgwell. In Australia she met her husband Hans and soon moved to Laufenburg, Switzerland, later emigrating to the United States, and eventually settling in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Doreen enjoyed raising her children, playing bridge with friends, and with Hans, had an active social life entertaining. After working as a beloved bookkeeper, she retired from Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance. Doreen and Hans retired to North Carolina building their dream house in River Run Plantation. She adored traveling around the world, enjoying every country, meeting and talking with everyone along the way. Doreen was a fantastic baker, particularly her legendary Lamingtons, a treasured Australian dessert. Doreen was a beautiful lady, kind, generous and loving; she was loved dearly by all who knew her.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 61 years, Hans Wagner; a son Hans Wagner, Jr. and Sharon Comstock of Laytonsville, MD; two daughters, Claire Werner and husband Edward of Silver Spring, MD, and Heidi Danis and husband Jay of Plattsburgh, NY; three grandchildren, Rachel Danis, Michael Danis, and Graeme Werner. In Australia she is survived by two brothers, Robert Ridgwell and wife Kay, Ted Ridgwell and wife Heather; and two sisters, Jan Eastick and husband Bill, and Helen Lawtey and husband Don, and also many loved generations of extended family.
Private services were held by the family on October 8th, with Pastor Ann Jahnes of the Southport Presbyterian Church.
