Dorothy was born in Janesville, Wisconsin and was a long time resident of Chatham, New Jersey. She retired with her late husband, Dennis, in Southport in 2001. Dorothy was a dedicated and impactful special education teacher. After retirement, she loved volunteering at the Southport Visitors Center and the Maritime Museum. Dorothy was also an active member at Southport Presbyterian Church and served as the church historian and as a member of the Administrative Committee.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Kristi (& Ed) Godek of Croton-on-Hudson, New York and Ami McIntosh of San Anselmo, California, as well as her sister, Florence, and her grandchildren, Madison, Nick and Jack. Her love, strength, grace, and wit will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 19 at 2:00 pm at Southport Presbyterian Church.
As a three-time breast cancer survivor, her daughters would prefer memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or to the Southport Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
