Mrs. Cover was born November 17, 1937 to the late Ollie and Eunice Jester. She and her late husband David were faithful members of Southport Baptist Church, where she had served in the nursery. Fern was a prayer warrior, she considered prayer as her ministry from God; she always prayed for each of her family members, who she loved very much. Mrs. Cover was an avid Duke Basketball fan. Fern was a private caregiver in her community.
Survivors include her son, Michael Gannaway; a daughter Belinda Wilkens; two granddaughters, Brittiney Collins, and Krissy Collins Bellamy; three great-granddaughters, Raegan, Kaley, and Kyndal Bellamy; and a sister, Winnie Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband David Cover.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.
