OBITUARY

Florence Ann Albert

April 19, 1929October 4, 2019

On Friday, October 4, 2019, Florence Ann Albert, loving mother of four children and five grandchildren, passed away at the age of 90.

Ann, as she was known to all, was born on April 17, 1929 in Syracuse, NY to Earl Gallaher and Ann Dutcher. She met and married Charles Stanley Albert in Washington DC in 1953 where they raised four children, Charles, Judy, Carole, and William.

Ann had a true passion for life. Movie and music were among her many loves. She was a classically trained opera singer who equally loved attending rock concerts with her children.

She grew up a Navy “brat” and lived in such places as Panama, Pensacola, Fl, Coronado, CA, and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Ann worked in a number of positions, including as a pre-school teacher at Lafayette Elementary in Washington, DC, the Neighborhood Planning Council, and at the national headquarters of the American Legion. She was an enthusiastic volunteer, including her participation in the nationwide Women’s Health Initiative, and an avid participant in activities in her later years, including exhibiting in her first art show at age 74.

She is survived by her four children, five grandchildren; Chelsea, Andrea, Harrison, Tony, and Dante, son-in-law Norman and daughter-in-law Carol. Ann was proceeded in death by her husband Charles, mother and father, and brother William.

I remember my dad taking me to Granny's home as a little boy and couldn’t wait to play games that she always had in her drawer. I remember eating good food and snacks and swimming even though I didn’t know how to swim - I still don’t lol. I also remember seeing the birds. She loved her birds and would send me and my brother cards every birthday and Christmas with money that matched our ages. I’m very sorry to hear that she has passed on but one thing that can’t shake my mind is that she’s with her husband now and she is not alone and is well taken care of....

Ann took care of me from the time I was 5 years old until I was a teenager. Ann was my mother's best friend . The last time I visited with Ann was in the 1990s with my mother . I loved her with all my heart and am very sad I did not get one more visit at least . I used to go to Ann's house everyday after school since her daughter Judy was my best friend . I remember holidays were always warm and Ann was the best hostess and so generous and full of Love. I remember her clean house and all the little sweet bird nik naks and things I loved to look at . Ann always made sure that I was taken care of after school with a snack and something fun to do . I remember going to church with the family. I am flooded with memories ... I can hear her jovial laugh and feel her comforting hugs . I wish I could have one more hug ... I remember after school she always had the little red , green , blue and yellow Dixie cups for our drinks and a snack tray with little pieces of cut up ham and cheese and celery and carrot sticks. She always had the best dinners and I loved to help her wash the dishes and polish the silver in her dining room . I have so many memories and wish I could have one more hug ... my heartfelt sympathy goes out to Charlie, Judy, carol and bill and to her grandchildren . Sending all my Love and calling all of the angels to dance around my beautiful and loving other Mom . I will cherish you in my heart until we meet again . All my Love , Lynne 💜🌷💜

I enjoyed knowing Ann at Carillon when visiting with my mother Janet. Such a beautiful and dignified lady. I am sorry to hear of your loss.
