

Mr. Liola was born August 31, 1946 in Kearney, NJ, the son of the late Frank Edward Liola and Jeanette Peters Liola Thompson. He grew up in North Arlington, NJ, attending the Queen of Peace schools. He served in the United States Army from January 1966 through December 1968. He was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University where he earned BS and MBA degrees in management. Prior to relocating to St. James, Mr. Liola resided in North Caldwell, NJ, where he enjoyed working with the youth of the community and coached boys baseball, girls’ softball, and soccer. He also spent six years on the North Caldwell Board of Education contributing to an already excellent school system. Mr. Liola spent 35 years in sales and market development with Deluxe Corporation partnering with client accounts nationwide in the financial services industry. He relocated to St. James in August, 2006 with his wife Celeste and retired in January, 2007. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and participated in the Ministry of the Word for many years. Mr. Liola also coordinated the Reserve neighborhood monthly dinners and helped introduce the neighborhood dinner program to the St. James community. He participated in St. James P.R.I.D.E., served on the POA’s nominating committee and was selected to participate on the St. James Advisory Committee where he chaired both the house and golf sub-committees. He volunteered with The First Tee of Brunswick County at the Southport Elementary School. He enjoyed his Monday and Wednesday golf groups and participating in the Men’s Golf Association, reading, time at the beach, fishing with the grandchildren and being with family and friends. Mr. Liola was known and loved by many.
Surviving are his wife Celeste Liola of the home; two daughters Christine Challeen and husband Joshua of Leland, NC; Suzanne Matus and husband Zachary of Lexington, MA; son David Liola and wife Katherine of Ashburn, VA; six grandchildren Tiberius Matus, Cora Challeen, Conrad Matus, Harper Liola, Sarah Challeen, and Gannon Liola; sister Peggy Argyelan and husband Joseph of Lyndhurst, NJ; and mother-in-law Fannie Bell of Southport, NC, He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Winter Matus.
A viewing will be held at Peacock - Newnan & White Funeral and Cremation Service on Monday, April 13, 2015 between 3:00 and 6:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm.
Following the funeral Mass a celebration of life reception will be held at the Reserve Club in St. James Plantation.
