Born on May 4, 1956, in Naples, Italy, George was a cherished son, husband, and father, who brought laughter and joy to all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie and five children, Mark and wife Blaire, Stephen and wife Ai, Elizabeth and Ada, Becky and husband Paul. He also has six grandchildren.
From a young age, George exhibited a keen intellect and curiosity about the world around him. He attended Weller Rd Elementary and Wheaton High School, before earning his degree from the University of Maryland. His academic background paved the way for a distinguished career in science, beginning with transplant research from 1979 to 1985 with the academic community and then four years with Bristol Myers and culminating in a significant tenure at Eli Lilly from 1988 to 2021. During his time at Eli Lilly, George played a pivotal role in the research and development of life-saving medications, leaving a lasting impact on the field.
George was a man of many interests and spent his leisure time engaging with nature, whether it was walking in the woods, identifying plants and animals, or relaxing on the beach. He also enjoyed putting models together and was an aficionado of smoking meat, a hobby that brought together family and friends for many memorable gatherings.
George's life was marked by his deep love for his family, his contributions to science, and his ability to bring laughter and joy to others. He will be profoundly missed by his loved ones and colleagues alike.
