Gie was many things: a son of Belgium, an athlete, a true oilsjteneer, a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a healer by trade, and a man whose humor and quiet cool could fill a room without ever trying.
He lived his life with warmth, wit, and a kindness that never asked for recognition. For 44 years, he was married to the love of his life, Jessica, his partner in every sense, his steady rhythm, his home. Together they built a life rich in laughter, resilience, and love.
He was the proud father to Jenny, Stef, Kellen and Evan, and grandfather to seven beautifully fun grandsons, Finn, Sullivan, Jess Evan, Jullian, Adrian, Remy, and his unexpected but delightful granddaughter Quinn, each of whom carries a little piece of his spirit forward in their unique way.
By profession, he was a physical therapist, but in truth, he was simply someone whose passion was to take care of people. He believed in helping hands, patient hearts, and showing up when someone needed you, even when it wasn’t easy or convenient. Reliable strength.
He had a way of seeing the poetry in life, in stories, in music, in the strange beauty of life. We’d like to believe he’s still moving gently through the music of it all.
