
Mr. Ayers was born July 30, 1939, in Joliet, Illinois, son of the late Harold and Rosemary Ayers. He was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ann Ayers, and three sisters, Bonnie Ward of Illinois, Janice Wright of Florida, and Cindy Sue Riley of Arizona.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by a brother, Russell Ayers; and a sister, Beth Ann Devine.
He had a multifaceted passion for sports and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His journey began with collegiate basketball, where he contributed to the team at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa. He later advanced his education, earning a degree at Monmouth University, West Long Branch, New Jersey.
While his athletic enthusiasm spanned a wide range of sports, it was the greens and the strategic challenges of golf that truly captured his spirit and became his lifelong devotion.
After building his life, first in Oakhurst and then in Brielle, New Jersey, with careers in banking and golf course management, he transitioned to retirement in Southport in 2014. Throughout every phase of his existence, he consistently enriched the lives of individuals, leaving a legacy of profound kindness, steadfast loyalty, and genuine affection for his family and friends.
