

Buddy was born on April 20, 1950, in Southport, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Simmons; his mother, Salema Ivey; and his sister, Harriet Wilson.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristy S. Bias of Boiling Spring Lakes; his grandson, Coby Bias; as well as several nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
A lifelong resident of Southport, Buddy proudly carried on his family’s legacy as a commercial fisherman. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1969 to 1972. Upon returning home, he resumed his work as a fisherman and also contributed to the construction of many roads in Brunswick and New Hanover counties.
Buddy was a man of strong faith and served his church in many capacities. He was also a talented musician and beloved song leader. In his later years, he cherished time spent with his family and enjoyed good food. The family draws strength in knowing that Buddy is exactly where he wants to be, with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with funeral services beginning at 2:00 PM at Peacock, Newnam & White Funeral Home in Southport, NC. Pastor Charles Drew will officiate.
Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery.
The family will also receive visitors at Buddy’s residence on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
