

Mr. Eason was born in Johnston County, North Carolina, on February 1, 1936, and was the son of the late James Thomas Eason and Janie Bell Eason. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served with the Seabees. Mr. Eason was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church and was musically talented. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Shelby S. Eason; six daughters, Susan Thigpen and husband Reverend Rory of Ocean Isle Beach, Cheryl Walton and husband Dennis of Boiling Spring Lakes, Carolyn Young and husband Ken of Winnabow, Margaret (“Lu Lu”) Sullivan and husband Tommy of Winnabow, Bridgette Vaught and husband James of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Sarah (“Skooter”) Bordeaux and husband Chris of Winnabow; two sisters, Rebecca Wiggs of Selma, North Carolina, and Debbie Lee of Pine Level, North Carolina; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 18, at two o’clock in the afternoon at Town Creek Baptist Church with Reverend V.C. Potter and Reverend Rory Thigpen officiating. The eulogy will be given by his grandson Jamie Bordeaux.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Eason’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Demos and Joe Best.
Friends are invited to a time of visitation from six o’clock until eight o’clock on Friday evening at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service, 1411 N. Howe Street, Southport.
