

Mr. Rash was a middle school science teacher in the Brunswick County Schools for 29 years. He had helped with the Science Olympiad and the Star Base program. Harvey served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee for several years at Southport Baptist Church and also worked at the NC Baptist Assembly at Fort Caswell in food service for many years.
Harvey was a dedicated volunteer, serving on three mission trips to spread the gospel and distribute filtration systems to provide safe drinking water to the people of Guatamala.
He is survived by his wife, Iris G. Rash; two children, Donna Shavitz and husband Jay, and Darin Strickland and wife Kimberly; a sister-in-law, Myra Malpass and husband Rev. Calvin; a brother-in-law, Rev. David Carver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Lee Rash, Sr. and Annie Aileen Crawford Rash; and a sister-in-law, Elfrida Carver.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Oak Island. The family will have visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
