Howard Lee Jr.

Mr. Lee was born in Southport, November 6, 1944, son of the late Howard Lee, Sr. and Thelma Davis Lee. He graduated from Brunswick County Training School in 1963, the same year he participated in the March on Washington on August 28, 1963. Howard was a member of Pythagoras Lodge #6, retired as Assistant Police Chief from the City of Southport after 15 years, and retired from International Longshoreman Association Local #1838 after 42 years. He also was a member of Brunswick County Sheriff’s Auxiliary. Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Evelyn A. Lee, brothers, William and Ralph.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his children, Angelita Bates (Raymond) of Wilmington and Jevon Daniel (Al Lester) of Durham; one grandson, Dishon R. Lee; sister, Catherine Lee Clemmons; a host of nieces and nephews; and lifetime friend and brother, Nelson Adams.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at ILA Hall in Southport with Reverend Avery McAllister officiating. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
